Pump & Paint Projects
Well it was a busy and tiring weekend but I think it paid off.
First off, I was planning on painting my car. But, I really wasnt in the mood Saturday morning. It just sounded kind onf unappealing. So when we went to the store for the other project which is painting Brendons room nice and bright and kid friendly. I decided that I wouldnt paint my car.
Lately we have been having some problems getting water on to the Yard. Which has been bothering me we are basically fighting with the Union Ditch Company. They keep shutting off our water even when we are using very little. So Saturday I had finally decided that I have had it and I figured that it would be a good weekend to get a pump and start pump directly out of the creek on our property. Not necessarily a small project considering that the creek is 40 feet from the initial bank about 10-15 feet of that is drop and it is fairly treacherous terrain.
So we went to the Home Depot I picked up the pump that I had been researching online and whatever I could think of to get things started. Of course with any project like this no matter how much planning is done those extra trips back are unavoidable and I have to make 4 the first day.
Day 1 went fine still double taking the room painting now the house was a complete wreck and getting the pump running was a bit cumbersome there was a valve I had forgotten that was giving us a bad prime. But, eventually we got it running and some sprinklers going. Though, we were a bit disappointed in how much water they were putting out. So we put on our thinking caps as we closed on Day 1.
Day 2 went even better but felt even more rushed. During the first of the morning we got some breakfast from Carls Jrs. Which BTW I love those breakfast burgers. Then did some more painting. We had now decided to encase the Pump intake in PVC and move the pump to a more central location. This required another 3 trips to Home Depot and a lot of time playing erector set in the Plumbing isle at Home Depot. With a couple hours of work though we had it going again this time putting out a lot of water actually so much that we can water the entire property in about 4 hours. We have about 2 acres. So that is not bad. The pump never loses its prime either which is nice all that has to be done is plug it in and start watering.
Finally, I would like to note that the painting is still going on as with a few delays and some changes in method it definitely turned out to be the tougher project.
